UBCO virtual downtown presence open house

Dear colleagues,

As many are already aware, planning is underway for UBC Okanagan’s downtown Kelowna site with a number of community-accessible facilities being considered, including a new public gallery, creative innovation spaces and a public engagement and learning suite.

To help share plans and better understand the needs of the community, we will be hosting a virtual open house for the public and our partners on January 19. Participants will be invited to learn more about the building envisioned at 550 Doyle Avenue and to discuss how new and future spaces may serve the shared interests of the region and the university.

While this event is designed primarily for the wider community, I’d also like to invite our faculty and staff to participate and to share this event with anyone that may be interested.

The open house webinar beings at 7 p.m. with opening remarks and a general Q&A hosted by Prof. Michael Burgess, Associate Provost, Strategy. The open house will be followed at 8:10 p.m. by a 45-minute facilitated small group discussion for those who are interested in providing more advice. Anyone registering for the open house will also receive an invitation to participate in the optional discussion forum.

Further information about the open house and how to register is available at ok.ubc.ca/downtown. Any questions about the event can be directed to downtown.ok@ubc.ca

This is an exciting project for UBC Okanagan and our community. We look forward to hearing from our community, both on and off campus.
