"Bring the Heat" clothing drive for Inn from the Cold
The UBC Okanagan Athletics and Recreation Department is working with Inn from the Cold, a non-profit organization responding to the needs of people experiencing homelessness in the community, to collect donations of clothing between now and this Saturday evening, January 5.
UBC Okanagan faculty, staff and students are invited to "Bring the Heat" by bringing clothing donations to the gymnasium or to Inn from the Cold's office at 1262 St. Paul Street, Kelowna.
In addition to all other winter clothing, Inn from the Cold is particularly looking for backpacks and suitcases, winter jackets, snow pants, gloves, toques, boots and warm footwear.
The clothing drive wraps up Saturday evening with the UBC Okanagan Heat volleyball teams taking on the University of Calgary Dinos in the gymnasium. The matches will feature "Bring the Heat" activities, events and giveaways and Inn from the Cold staff will be on hand with more information about their organization.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with the women's game at 5 p.m. and men's game at 7 p.m. Admission is free for students, youth and kids, and just $10 for adults. Bring a clothing donation!
