UBC continues to prepare for the escalation of COVID-19. For the latest information, please check ubc.ca often – it is the most up-to-date source of information for the UBC community.
Reminder for Okanagan VPN users
Vancouver network currently under very high usage
UBCO IT would like to remind faculty and staff working remotely to use an Okanagan connection when using the UBC Virtual Private Network.
Please minimize the usage of the VPN where possible and to limit audio and video streaming (YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, etc). If you do not need Novell drive access mapping, consider using the web client at: netstorage.ok.ubc.ca/NetStorage
If you are working from home, please remember that UBCO IT is working hard to support you. Wait times for calls and routine tickets are likely to be quite high. Systems are also under stress with the increased usage/workload. Please remember to:
Create tickets if possible (instead of email, phone calls, or walk ups to the Service Desk).
UBC Studios Okanagan continues to provide video support to faculty as courses migrate to remote delivery. The team is available to help prepare quick video messages to students, record lecture content or lab demonstrations for online distribution, loan out of video recording cameras, lighting and sound equipment.
They also offer DIY video project demos, training, consultation and support, and can assist with other video projects in preparation for next term.
UBC Bookstore to transition to online-only services
In response to COVID-19, the UBC Bookstore is transitioning to a new online service model. Starting today, both the UBCO and UBCV bookstores will be closed until further notice.
Customers will still be able to order products online and the Bookstore is offering free standard shipping to anywhere in Canada while stores remain closed.
Take the mandatory Privacy and Security Fundamentals Training
As a UBC employee, the loss or disclosure of confidential information could be very harmful to you and the university. To better understand your responsibility in protecting that confidential information, you are required to complete parts one and two of the training now.
Your valuable feedback can help provide the best possible dining experience for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Complete the short survey and be entered into a draw to win a $200 prepaid VISA card. The survey closes March 31 and a winner will be chosen at random on April 1.
From transforming existing programs to creating new (open) educational resources, this year's recipients are accelerating curricular transformations and new program development.
