Disability Resource Centre welcomes new Accessibility Advisor

The Disability Resource Centre (DRC) is pleased to welcome Meghan Currie, UBC Okanagan's newest accessibility advisor.

Currie's new role gives the DRC two advisors to help determine eligibility for academic accommodations, provide advising and support to students, and work with faculty to help them best support their students when needed.

JELF awards for five UBC Okanagan researchers

Congratulations to UBC Okanagan researchers receiving Canada Foundation for Innovation John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) awards this week.

Announced Tuesday, awards totaling more than $740,000 go to Edward Hornibrook, Nathaniel Pelletier, Lesley Lutes and Jesse Tanguay in the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences, and Jian Liu in the School of Engineering.

Mohamed Hegazi, research assistant technician for engineering prof. Gordon Lovegrove's Sustainable Transport Safety Lab, is currently testing the effectiveness of high-visibility gear for cyclists.

Hegazi is looking for volunteers to ride a bicycle. Participating will take no more than an hour and a half.
