11 recognized for more than 25 years of dedicated service

From the Toronto Blue Jays winning their first World Series, to Dr. Roberta Bondar becoming the first Canadian woman in space, to the world first SMS/text message -- 1992 was a year of firsts.

1992 was also the first year that 11 individuals -- who were recognized last week at the university's annual Long Service Recognition Reception -- started as employees at what was known as Okanagan University College.

Volunteers needed for Convocation

On Thursday, June 8, and Friday, June 9, more than 1,400 students will walk across the stage to receive their degree in front of family and friends.

Ceremonies and alumni UBC are teaming up to help make the 2017 Convocation Ceremonies a memorable occasion for graduates and their families. Numerous volunteer roles are available for alumni, faculty and staff members.

Gardening Club now a perennial affair

Facilities and Campus Operations and Risk Management are pleased to announce that the Gardening Club has sprouted again.

Workshops will run from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month from May to October and are free of charge to all UBC Okanagan students, faculty, and staff.

Parking permit rate changes

On September 1, 2017, parking rates will be increasing. The new rates can be viewed on the Parking Services website.

With these increases, Parking Services reminds faculty and staff that now is the time to change parking lots. There are available spaces currently and it is much easier to switch to a lot that better suits you.

UBC Writer in Residence Renée Sarojini Saklikar unveiled the winners of the 2017 Okanagan Short Story Contest on April 18 in the Great Room at the Kelowna branch of the Okanagan Regional Library.
