Close haircuts raising funds for BC Cancer Foundation April 28

Volunteers on campus are raising funds to benefit the BC Cancer Foundation and the Sindi Ahluwalia Hawkins Centre for the Southern Interior.

UBC Okanagan staff members Randy Bone, Troy Campbell and Ryan Hirowatari will receive close-cut haircuts in the courtyard from 12 to 2 p.m. on April 28. Contact Ryan Hirowatari at the UBC Okanagan Bookstore for details or to donate.

New tool can help estimate genetically modified pollen spread

Food purists may have cause to celebrate thanks to a recent international study co-authored by Rebecca Tyson, associate professor of mathematics.

The study, which evaluated the spread of genetically modified organisms to non-modified crops, has implications from farm to family.

Michael Smith Health Research Foundation Scholar Sanjoy Ghosh has recently published research that concludes a high consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids but not monounsaturated fatty acids can lead to sedentary or lazy behaviour, especially in women.
