Outlook app for iOS and Android devices blocked

Microsoft recently acquired the mobile application Acompli, and has rebranded its iOS and Android apps as Microsoft Outlook.

This is a concern for staff and faculty at UBC who might use the application, because it is not compliant with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and UBC information security policies and standards.

Constance Crompton, assistant professor of digital humanities, has embarked upon a similar digitization project.

A new recipient of the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund, Crompton’s research project, titled "The Exchange: A Humanist Data Lab," joins the past with the present through digitization.

Follow-up: UBC professor and Rotary Club help build new washrooms for Tanzanian school

Rotary Club members have donated $4,000 to a UBC project to help build new facilities for a school in Tanzania

Associate Professor Sandra Peacock was recently presented with the cheque, just before heading back to Tanzania. The money will be used to complete new plumbing at Moivaro Primary School in Tanzania.
