Chris Hadfield to give Distinguished Speaker Series talk
in October

Registration now open for October 7 event

"Good morning, Earth." That is how Colonel Chris Hadfield -- writing on Twitter -- woke up the world every day while living aboard the International Space Station for over five months.

Since blasting off from Kazakhstan in December 2012, Hadfield has become a worldwide sensation, harnessing the power of social media to make outer space accessible to millions and infusing a sense of wonder into the collective consciousness not felt since man first walked on the moon.

Colonel Hadfield will speak in Kelowna on October 7 as part of the Irving K. Barber School of Arts and Sciences' Distinguished Speaker Series.

Exchange Formatting Survey

Four options, all of them good

Which New format do you prefer for The Exchange?

The Exchange is testing some new formats to help readers access news that's most important to them, while sharing the important stories that create a common experience for all UBC employees on campus.

Which one do you want to see in your inbox starting this fall? And why?

  • Option one: similar to the existing format, but with more employee news up front
  • Option two: same as current Exchange, with a slight aesthetic refresh
  • Option three: a shortened format with fewer visuals; events and workshops on the side
  • Option four: just the facts, a one-column format with fewer visuals to make The Exchange easier to scan quickly
