UBC Okanagan extends winter break

The UBC Okanagan Senate has approved an adjusted schedule for Winter Term 2, extending the winter break by moving the start of most undergraduate classes from January 4 to January 11, 2021.

The revised schedule preserves the week of February 15 to 19 for midterm break, but classes will finish on April 13—five days later than the original schedule. Final exams will start April 16 and continue through April 29, concluding two days later than the original schedule.

Please note that a few professional undergraduate programs that have special requirements will remain with a January 4 start date. Some students may receive information from their faculties about variations that affect them.

The decision to adjust the Term 2 schedule was not taken lightly and we know it will affect people in many ways, but it is intended to support our community’s mental and physical wellbeing.

More information will be provided next week. The UBC Okanagan Academic Calendar is being updated with the new schedule, and the online course schedule will also be updated as soon as possible.
