UBC Okanagan Global Message

This email is being sent to all faculty and staff at UBC's Okanagan campus on behalf of the Office of the Associate Vice-President, Finance and Operations.

Limited access to some facilities

With a reduction in the number of people currently on campus due to social distancing measures including remote delivery of classes and working from home, UBC Okanagan is moving to limit access to certain spaces in academic and administration buildings.

These measures will allow custodial resources to focus on enhanced cleaning in areas of buildings that remain open.

Classrooms, lecture halls and several instructional computer labs will not be automatically opened each day. Members of faculty or staff with Salto access to these spaces will continue to have access. Others may request access by contacting Campus Security dispatch at 250 807 9236.

The following computer labs will remain OPEN:

  • EME 2205 (Engineering, Management and Education building)
  • SCI 126, SCI 128 and SCI 234 (Science building)

Instructional computer labs that will remain CLOSED are:

  • ART 215 (Arts building)
  • FIP 129 and FIP 133 (Fipke Centre)
  • ASC 165 (Arts and Sciences Centre)

A variety of informal learning spaces, including bookable spaces, remain OPEN in:

  • Administration building (Sunshine dining area closed)
  • Arts building
  • Arts and Sciences Centre
  • Charles E. Fipke Centre for Innovative Research
  • The Commons (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Creative and Critical Studies building
  • Engineering, Management and Education building
  • Science building
  • Reichwald Health Sciences Centre (Salto access only)
  • University Centre (Picnic food services 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. See UBCO Food Services website for full details.)

Reichwald Health Sciences Centre and Upper Campus Health building are Salto access only.

Please note that the number of chairs in some spaces will be reduced to promote appropriate social distancing.
